REVIEW OF 2005/06 SEASON

Coventry ended their inaugural season at their fabulous new stadium 'The Ricoh Arena' in 8th position in the Championship, the highest finish since entering the Championship in the 2001/2002 season. It was their best overall position in any league since they finished 7th in the old Division 1 in 1989.

City had an excellent home record last season, losing just 4 of their 24 matches and scoring 39 goals, the most home goals since the 1978-1979 season. During this season, City achieved their best home run for 26 years when they went 12 games undefeated between November and April.

Their record away from home was sadly not as impressive and the Sky Blues only managed 4 away wins all season.

Coventry's top scorer this season was Gary McSheffrey with 17 goals, the highest top scorer for 8 years. 2 other players also managed to get into double figures, Dele Adebola and Stern John making it the 1st time in 26 years that 3 City players have done so.

City's average match attendance was 22,211 which is up 31% and the highest since 1979. The highest attendance was for the 4th Round FA Cup match against Middlesborough which saw 28,120 pack the 'Ricoh Arena' to watch the teams draw 1-1. This was City's highest home match attendance since 1981.

This season saw big steps foward, both on and off the pitch, and only a disappointing away record prevented the Sky Blues reaching a play-off place - surely a realistic target for next season!

PLAY UP SKY BLUES!!!!
